Dear All,

As the Easter break comes to an end and we move into the Summer Term, we’d usually be getting in touch to let you know details about the Summer programme and our move to Scout Park.

However, as you will be aware face to face Scouting is currently suspended and for a little while longer yet we’ll be remaining firmly indoors.

The leaders have been working hard to re-plan their programmes and for the next few weeks, we will be moving Scouting online in an effort to keep things going as best we can until returning to the great outdoors again is permitted.

In the most part, live sessions will take place at usual section meeting times each week until further notice and continue each week until further notice.

Section teams will be in touch directly to let you know plans and programmes. In addition we’ll be providing some extra activities for you to complete in your own time away from the screen including badge work suggestions.

Attached is some information about how this is going to work in practise, including how to access the online systems we have put in place. We have tried to keep this as simple as possible for everyone and have provided step by step instructions and guides for those new to these tools which can be found on the group website; 9thmuswellhill.org.uk/virtual-scouting

In order for this to run a smoothly as possible we would ask that all members:

  • Login to their online accounts as soon as possible and ensure you have access before the first sessions begin.

  • Check your account regularly for updates- we would suggest a least once a week.

  • Agree and abide by our Scouting @ Home “Code of Conduct” while taking part in online activities.

Finally, please bear with us while we get this up and running. As a team we have collective decades of experience running Scouting activities, but not one of us has ever run a virtual Scout meeting so this is all very new to us too!

If you have any technical problems or questions about this please get in touch and we will do our best to help.

Yours in Scouting,

Dan Sheehan
