Dear Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Leaders, Friends and Supporters…
As some of you may know 2019 marks the 50th Anniversary of 9th Muswell Hill Scout Group.
As part of our planned celebration of this landmark, we’ll be trying something a little bit different for Group Camp this year.
We are really excited to announce that this years Group Camp will take place on Brownsea Island, where Baden-Powell hosted the first ever Scout Camp back in 1907.
The camp will take place on the weekend of Friday 3rd May 2019 – Monday 6th May 2019 taking advantage of the long bank holiday weekend
Full details of arrangements and OSM invitations to sign up will be with you very soon but to give you an idea of what were planning for the weekend…
Our campsite will be on the South Shore of the Island surrounding the very site of the first ever Scout Camp with access to a private beach and huge area of woodland and nature reserve at our disposal.
The focus of this weekend will be a relaxed atmosphere making the most of the stunning surroundings and focusing traditional Scouting with activities planned including;
Sea Kayaking
High Ropes
Team Building
Nature Trails
Woodcraft Skills
Tracking and Foraging
Climbing and Abseiling
Zip Wire
Plus the usual campfires, camp cooking, wide games, camp skills, knife and axe work and more still to be confirmed…
Please “save the date” if you are interested in joining us.
We hope as many of the group can join us as possible to make this event a great success and a fitting celebration of a significant date in the groups history.
There is no limit of places for this activity but there will be quite a fast turn around for confirmation of numbers with strict booking deadlines as there is lots to organise so please have in think and look out for an invitation soon!
